We grow up hearing that learning a new language is very important , after all learning a new language means being able to communicate with more and more people. But which one to choose? There are so many options: English, Spanish, German, Japanese and the list keeps growing! In this sea of possibilities, many people end up forgetting one: Libras (Brazilian Sign Language)! As we have already said here on the blog, Libras is a language , as important as any other.
And today we bring you the story of Erivaldo, who combined his desire to learn a new language with a pinch of empathy and threw himself into the world of Libras . He told us a little about his motivation and how Hugo helped him learn his first signs!
I have always been interested in knowing how to cell phone number list communicate with other people, since we were children we were taught to learn Portuguese and English; Over time I looked for Spanish, then behavioral gestures. Well, throughout my search, I ended up coming across blind and deaf Youtubers, after learning more about them, I decided to try to learn something, Hugo helped me with this part. I started with letters and simple words, then I started turning off subtitles on the Visurdo channel (a group of deaf YouTubers) and now, sometimes, at shows, for example, I use Libras to communicate since the noise is surreal to talk to. Libras is fantastic and I owe a lot to Hand Talk, and you Hugo.
Who's also dying to learn Libras after this story? As in the case of Erivaldo, Hugo can help! On the Hand Talk app , you can find Hugo Ensina's videos, where our favorite virtual translator teaches you signs in Libras. And if you're passionate about videos, take a look at these wonderful YouTubers who will help you immerse yourself in deaf culture!
Given this, we listened to the advice given by the WPT staff: forget the first website and build another one from scratch, on another platform (WordPress).
Thinking about accessibility from the beginning makes the job easier
Building a website on WordPress requires a slightly greater degree of technical knowledge than on Wix, and, in addition, the need to hire a domain and a hosting company.
After a lot of research on the internet, I discovered a way to build the website “offline” on my own PC while the domain and hosting procedures were taken care of. Remembering that this step is completely unnecessary, as many hosting platforms have built-in website builder tools.
